Ferry Tales from Italy to Greece

After a horrible night in the train from Roma to Brindisi (yes, another sleepless one) i arrived quite tired at the small city of big ferries. Had to screw my time from dusk till dawn to get on the way to sunnier days (at least i thought so!). Catched up with many other travelers: Met a Japanese who hardly spoke English (...and travels round Europe for 1 month, is it possible?) and a very nice Australian couple which makes there 1 year honeymoon before the wedding by discovering the entire planet, quite interesting!

After a great night and shower (ohoueraaa, i could catch some hours sleep at the cinema room of the ferry) i was prepared for another country. But what i saw really frightened me: Around 20 albanian guys (givem a trial) tried to find their luck in western Europe by trying to get into one of several trucks to Italy. Funny, the police could not do anything and it looks that they are playing hide and seek with an unfair ration: 2 police men against 20 albanian. For sure, nothing serious will happen, at least not to police, because they have been powerless. So, i could follow the pace around for at least an hour. And that happens in front of the doors of Europe! I was scared, but finally they did not rob any of several tourists...

Micha Burning Rom

Uff what a night. A little bit scary, such a fuck - i could not find anybody from Roma to host me. Fuckin CS: Everybody seems to be busy with other CouchSurfer... So i went into the park somewhere at the outer boundaries of the city. There i thought nobody will be there, but finally there have been some bums around that place, so nasty. I was a little bit scary, cuz i thought they gonna hear me and rob my things, but finally they just smoked and drunk a lot, 25 meters from my sleeping place. Hardly sleeping i followed their actions and just tried to be quite, cuz their dog was listening. Freezing too in Roma, 8 degrees in the night. nothing for me, i left in dawn! bacl to Roma Centre, ready for Sightseeing Numero 2.

Venice, here we go!

My last (ok forelast) day, and now please letz go to Venice, so we did. How is one saying: See Venice and than die! But somehow we survived the trip. In fact you hardly can plan an organized tour to go through. You just can get lost in walking the streets and crossing the bridges. Nice way of exploring, here you really will recognize things which you would not when you just go the tourist track. Eating Pizza, drinking Spritz, ah - i love IT!

Padova

After Zurich i directly surfed to Padova, the city in the suburbs of Venice. there i luckily catched up with Italiana Nora which introduced methe city while cruising fast through the city. Andiamo, andiamo! i just heard her shouting. Crazy italians, it must be the every morning coffee which turns them to crazyness. We catched up with a whole bundle of italianas, i wjust was smiling ;-) Finally we end up in on of the "bastard" clubs and had a small beer (not comparable with the consumption in Germany). Povoro Tobi!

Cold an Expensive

Einsam, Zweisam, Dreisam and the 8 degree cold river ctahced me and surrounded my body for at least 3 seconds. My heart was beating uncontrolable and i i felt pain coming through my head. A nice thing to start a day. Short time later i felt a flood of endophines cruising my whole body. Happy with that? Yes, i was smiling.

But it does not stay long, this lucky feeling. this time Birk lend me his ticket and i got into ity to have a farewell breakfast. Fuck they got me. 40 Euros away for the fuckin controllis!

Surfing the Black Forest (4th day)

The regional train got me to the very top of the Black Forest, thanks Bene for the ticket. Here i started my tour through the woods. Quite cold it got after some ours, so i had problems to get into my shoes (fuckin freezin!). Yes barefoot wandering helps to stabilize your system i told the small children whiched asked their daddies why i am doing that.

After i arrived back to the nicest community of Freiburg we went into the city to see some Jazz concert (yeah, somehow it was electronic, Jazz only cuz of improvising). Well, well, well - falled asleep like a tree after that strenous day.

Hitchhiking failed (3rd day)

I started quite early, left Bastis flat quite erly. Full of enthusiasm i went to the most recommended hitchhiking place. You are supposed to get a lift in 30 to 60 minutes in every direction you wanna go. BUT, somehow it did not worked out for me. Even after 5 hours waiting i could not get anything. Frustrated i arranged to get on a Mitfahrgelegenheit, 20 Euros - OK, is that the price for waiting? nevertheless i reached Zurich and could catch up with Guido, best class mate ever!
I tried to cook the indian way, but finally it was just a ofu soup on rice, nice trial. Thanks Guido for the expenses!

Discovering Frankfurt (2nd day)

First morning, waking up in the central city of West Germany, where the bankers never sleep. Every day lots of money is moved here, some say its one of the most trading cities in whole Europe. ...and i am within there. So i wanted to have a closer look at it and went to the Roemer, the central place of tourism. I ctahced some standard infos where to go and what to explore, discarded it short time later and made me up to have a look for my own walking down the streets of business, money, poverty and crime. OK, i did not see much about the last part, but i felt very uncompfortable at the central station, i can tell you!
Finally, its a small town, where you can reach most of the things by walking. So, i went to the Goether-Haus and got a guidance there which introduced us to the way of living of the big poet Gothe. Quite interesting: Goethes Family was washing their clothes just 3 times in a year, so they could have been called "sehr gut betucht". Anyway afer the tour i had a nice talk with the guide there, he spoke all the time as he would be Goethe, very curious, but interesting. Also he reminded me on somebody who is reading historic documentaries in the TV, very good pronounciation. Finally he recommended me some very nice places in South Italy, so i got curious. Hope to see some of them when i reach there.
After the Goether tour a couple let me in to the Palmen Garden of Frankfurt, i really can recommend it, get some refreshing and take you somebody when you go there!

First longer Hitchhike (1st day)

Time to leave Berlin for some days, at least 3 weeks to go for some vacations i thought and so did I. I went to S Nikolasee to leave Berlin by catching a lift southwards. Get out my label signed with Leipzig i began trying to catch some chances to jump on a car which will take me as far as possible, my aim: the very popular (in the eyes of foreigners) Frankfurt am Main. Fortunately after 20 minutes a couple catched me and took me. Always people have a reason to take you, so they remembered the good old days when they hitchhiked in the past. Fine, Fine - so i got to the near of Leipzig. Carrying on i tried my luck to go further to Erfurt. I met another hitchhiker watching for a lift and hooked up with him. The guy was quite experienced and could get a lift for us both further to Erfurt and than another to get on another Autobahn, i was amazed. Near of Erfurt i had to attest what i learned from that lesson. So i started asking people at the gas station to take me. Short time later i got to known Richard, another hitchhiker. So, finally we could arrange a ride together to go to Frankfurt. Quite successfull day: 4 rides within short time, no money left, 7 hours only!

So i reached Frankfurt at around 7pm and hooked up with my old surfer buddy Bastl. We once met at a surfing course in Portugal, so its was a good moment to see him again. We drunk Roter Rauscher, updated us recently and exchanged some new ideas about the future. So i am curious, whether Bastl will go on these Big Yacht Sailing soon (Keep in touch man!)
